About Data: The Yosemite Forest Dynamics Plot is a research and educational project affiliated with Utah State University, the University of Montana, Washington State University, and the University of Washington. The YFDP is located in Yosemite National Park in old-growth, sugar pine—white fir forest (~500 years old). The 25.6 ha YFDP is the largest permanent monitoring plot in the National Park System, and together with the companion plot in Wind River, is the largest permanent plot in western North America. A project, where dendrometers were installed in a small subset of trees in 2012, was started as part of the CTFS Carbon study, devised and implemented by Dr. James Lutz at Utah State University.
