About Data: The Department of Forest Ecology of the Silva Tarouca Research Institute in partnership with the Forest Global Earth Observatory (ForestGEO) of the Smithsonian Tropical Research Institute, seek to promote the scientific investigation of natural temperate forests in the Czech Republic and worldwide. These institutions oversee and support the continued monitoring of the 25-ha Zofin Forest Dynamics Plot in Novohradské hory Mts., Czech Republic. We welcome proposals to collect new and different types of data within the Zofin 25-hectare Forest Dynamics Plot and to build a rich data set for this study site. We are focusing our efforts on genuine research collaborations leading to co-authorship in peer reviewed publications.
Our goal is to make the Zofin 25-hectare Forest Dynamics Plot data available to the broadest possible community of researchers that can utilize these data to address a wide range of scientific and management questions. However, maintaining the Zofin ForestGEO plot requires enormous field effort and an ongoing financial commitment by several parties. We therefore require that the Principal Investigators of the Zofin Plot be considered collaborators on any project making use of the data and be included as co-authors on any articles or presentations, unless they explicitly state otherwise.
