Terms and Conditions for the Use of Laupahoehoe tree Data

Data Request: In order to access the Laupahoehoe 4-hectare Forest Dynamics Plots data a "Data Request Form" must be completed. This form requires that the applicant agree to comply with "Terms and Conditions" for the use of Laupahoehoe Forest Dynamics Plot Data as described here. You will be contacted within one month.

Non-transferability: Prospective investigators are not permitted to share the Laupahoehoe data with other parties not included on the Data Request Form.

Citation: Any publication that uses Laupahoehoe data should include the following citation:

Inman-Narahari, F., C. Giardina, R. Ostertag, S. Cordell, and L. Sack. 2010. Digital data collection in forest dynamics plots. Methods in Ecology and Evolution 1:274–279.

Copies of articles: Copies of manuscripts should be sent to point of contact, Becky Ostertag, University of Hawaii at Hilo, ostertag@hawaii.edu. Once published, the PDF and any supplementary documents should be sent to all PIs.

Limitation of Use: Prospective investigators are not permitted to use the Laupahoehoe data for projects or analyses other than those explicitly described in the Data Request Form. A new Data Request Form must be submitted for any new use of the data. Prospective investigators are also not permitted to sell the data, or use them in any way for commercial gain.

Data Citation: Any publication that uses the Laupahoehoe data should state the specific version number of the data set used for analysis. This version number will be provided after the data request has been approved.

Acknowledgements: Publications and presentations using the Laupahoehoe plot or data should be acknowledged using the following text: "This work is possible because of support provided by NSF EPSCoR (Grant Numbers EPS- 0554657 and EPS-0903833), the USDA Forest Service, the University of Hawaii, and the University of California at Los Angeles. Metadata: You will be contacted by the PIs about supplying project metadata. Metadata can help in reporting and justification of the plot infrastructure.
