Terms and Conditions for the Use of Ituri tree Data

Data Request: In order to access the Ituri Forest Dynamics Plots (IFDP) data, a "Data Request Form" must be completed. This form requires that the applicant agrees to comply with the "Terms and Conditions" for the use of the IFDP data as described herein.

Non-transferability: Prospective investigators are not permitted to share the Ituri data with other parties not included on the Data Request Form.

Citation: Any publication that uses Ituri data should include the following citations:

Makana J-R., Hart T.B., Liengola I., Ewango C.N.E., Hart J.A. & Condit R. (2004). Ituri Forest Dynamics Plots, Democratic Republic of Congo. In Losos E.C. and Leigh, E.G. Jr. eds. Forest Diversity and Dynamism: Findings from a Large-Scale Plot Network. . 506-516. University of Chicago Press, Chicago.

Copies of articles: Copies of manuscripts should be sent to current PIs Jean-Remy Makana (jr_makana@yahoo.fr) and Corneille E.N. Ewango (corneilleewango@gmail.com), and to former PIs Terese and John Hart (TereseHart@aol.com) prior to submission for publication. Once published, the PDF and any supplementary documents should be sent to all PIs. Upon publication, a PDF copy of (or a link to) the article should also be sent to forestgeo@si.edu.

Limitation of Use: Prospective investigators are not permitted to use the Ituri data for projects or analyses other than those explicitly described in the Data Request Form. A new Data Request Form must be submitted for any new use of the data. Prospective investigators are also not permitted to sell the data, or use them in any way for commercial gain.

Data Citation: Any publication that uses Ituri data should state the specific version number of the data set used for analysis. This version number will be provided after the data request has been approved.

Acknowledgements: All publications that include the Ituri 40-ha plot data must acknowledge the institutions and funding that enabled the establishment of the plot with the following acknowledgement:

The Ituri 40-ha plot program is a collaborative project between the Centre de Formation et de Recherche en Conservation Forestière, the Wildlife Conservation Society – DRC through his conservation project in the Okapi forest Reserve, in partnership with the Forest Global Earth Observatory (ForestGEO). The Ituri plots are financially supported by the Wildlife Conservation Society, the Frank Levinson Family Foundation, and ForestGEO. The Institut Congolais pour la Conservation de la Nature graciously provided the research permit.
